Most of you guys aren't really going to care about this... It's the kind of character-centric background bull that's only interesting to the person who created it... But I spent nearly an hour making this thing, so I'm going to post it anyway.

If you've ever wondered just *how* tangled up the web of Turtle House's various relations are (familial and otherwise-), this should make it all about as clear as mud. XD

What does sort-of make me chuckle is how much Ahken and Kura seem to act as keystones, connecting and holding different parts of the cast together. It's very... them.

Another new portrait...
Or, well, *A* portrait, anyway...

It can't really be called a new one since Yomi never actually had an old one. This is the first time I've taken anything like a "serious" picture of the guy.

Yomi is a lightly modified Volks School A, and while I'm not a big fan of the School A sculpt in general... I'm pretty fond of him. He's got exactly the right expression for Sunna (Volks Eden) the Twilight's reluctant and rather incredulous Lunar partner.

Just don't mess with his Solar.

He may think Sunna's a hare-brained lunatic... But by the gods, he's *his* hare-brained lunatic. Badger-totemed Full Moons take that territoriality thing seriously. XD

D didn't really need a new database picture... but I still felt like playing around with him today. That's a rare enough thing that I'd feel a little bad not to take advantage of it.

D has always been one of those dolls that I like having, but rarely do much with. He tends to be left sitting for long periods of time, just looking pretty and keeping the top of my chest of drawers from being completely boring.

He's the kind of doll that some of the DoA crowd would probably consider "neglected" or "unloved"...

(Yeah. This one is a reprise of Jen's new DB portrait. I have to do *something* with the petals from my faded hybrid teas-)

I don't think of him that way. Just because I don't take a thousand pictures of him, or constantly carry him around the house with me doesn't mean that I've abandoned him, or forgotten he's there, or that I like him any less than the more messed-with members of this crew.

It just means that he and I have something of a hands-off relationship. XD

Today it was Rone's turn to have a new database portrait taken, and I was reminded... all over again... exactly why Fergus, Julian and Ashley find this guy so difficult to deal with. Why they plot his demise on a regular basis.

He's a smug, infuriating pain in the butt.

I don't know which of these two pictures I'm going to use in the DoA database, yet... but anything's better than the picture of his that's over there now.

I'm remembering now why I put off taking a better one.

(Rone is a Type 2 CP Dreaming El, of course. About the second or third most common sculpt known to man.)

I was *supposed* to be taking new profile pictures of Nightengale and Kingfisher today, but the half-cloudy/half-sunny light was doing some very odd things to them... That sort-of killed my plans. I'm not out to replace bad pictures with worse ones, after all.

So, I played some more with Vincent instead. He's on a properly-scaled bod of his own now, and even though I hate just about everything about it, it does fit him pretty well. It looks good in a suit, too. I guess that's a plus.

I've been debating posting a couple from this set in the DoA Gallery, just to put up an example of a Heliot that isn't wearing his hooves, but it still seems weird to. It's bad enough that I spam you guys with this stuff... XD

A pain.
In the butt.

That's what sifting through and rearranging a web space filled with almost seven years worth of RPG stuff, doll pics, MMO screens and god only knows how much random photography crap always is. But at some point it becomes unavoidable. You just have to say "To hell with it", man up and get it done.

That's what I've spent today doing, and I have to say it's nice to see an "available space" number again that isn't Very Seriously Red. It's nice to be able to find things, for however long that lasts.

Of course, getting to that state axed god only knows how many image and file links out across the landscape of the internet. I got my old, old Gallery threads on Nomads and DoA deleted, and I'm pretty sure the first pictures thread on RPG went down in the last great Tangency Purge, so at least those aren't hanging around full of little red X's... But there's no way I could chase down and delete or re-link everything my cleaning binge broke. o_O

Oh well. The nature of the 'net is impermanence.

I was pretty careful about not killing all of my DoA database images, but looking at some of them... I decided that it was time to replace most of the older ones, anyway. They're from the era of my old Olympus and it shows. XP

New ones that I particularly like are apt to show up here or on dA, a few at a time as I get around to taking them.

As in all things... I started with the siblings. ^_^

Well... I've pretty much terminally fallen behind on the "picture-a-day" thing. I just haven't had time or the inspiration to do much with the minions or my camera. Oh well. Laziness, thou art me. XP

Still, it would be weird to just post after a whole week without any pictures at all, even though I'm throwing in the towel on daily image project. So... have a random Vincent. For the road.

I haven't posted him before. This was his first and only time on a body, or in front of the camera.
I haven't said much of anything about him, either. With everyone under the sun jumping on the Soom monthlies (Including myself, obviously-), it just seems kind-of odd to. "Hur hur. Look at that. Another follower"... You know how it goes...

Anyway, Vincent is the resin avatar of another gaming character... Like Shatterglass, the original was a favorite Shadowrun PC. An elvish gun-bunny whose original inspiration was a song... I'm not sure if I should thank my old office-mate for introducing me to that tune while I was trying to come up with a new character, or curse him for it.

It's Herbert's fault that poor Vincent couldn't remember who he was or where he learned to shoot. His friends used to joke that he was secretly a "deprogramed" secret agent... Sort-of Seattle-in-2050's answer to James Bond.

... If James Bond had had the personality and the dress-sense of an accountant, and an inexplicable fascination with yuppie coffee-houses. Vin just wasn't the kind of guy you'd look at and think "Frighteningly competent assassin." o_O

EDIT: Okay... I finally pulled the rest of the pictures from that set off of the camera and looked at them, and I liked this one a lot. So, maybe two Vincents.

I wasn't sure I wanted to put him in the DoA database due to "lack of a good picture", but I think I like this one enough to use it.

Day 8 - Departure

No extras from this set... which features Sunna (Volks Eden), helping to pack up his Lunar partner's head. (Yomi, a School A mod, is setting off with Pally and Kura to finally get a face-up done. ^_^)

I'm not sure how many more of these Faceless pictures I'm going to do, though. I just don't have the time or space to set up interesting, elaborate or artsy shots these days and I'm already getting tired of plain hands and profiles.

I may have to go for a compromise... Still posting a picture or two a day, but not necessarily a "faceless" one.
I never have claimed to be the most creative person, and the limitations of this challenge seem to be beyond me. XD

None of the "extras" from these sets were particularly good... so no goodies behind a cut this time. The doll in the first picture is Tien Jen (Type 1 CP Dreaming Shiwoo), my little super hero costume consultant in the second is Tensuruki (DF Popo) and the thoughtful fellow in the third is Sjhan (Type 2 CP Dreaming Shiwoo).

I'm going to continue to try having a different doll (or pair of dolls, as the case may be-) in each day's set this time around. Some of my crew have only rarely been in front of a camera, and this seems like as good of an excuse to change that as any. ^_^

It's a bit chilly here today, and over-cast... It's starting to rain... But after the long summer dryness and the heat-from-hell we were suffering under a few weeks ago, I'm not going to complain. It feels good.

Anyway, on to today's Faceless image.

Day 2 - Muse

They're two of the four members of my quasi-Iron Age/SciFi "First House" cast... The alien Founder and his packhunter-Lineaged chimera caretaker.

That silver orb that Autumn is holding is called a Muse. It's an artificially intelligent, self-aware machine. Often used as a familiar of sorts, it's one of Blackbird's more other-worldly tools. The chimera, who have no sophisticated technology of their own, regard it as a living thing.

No matter how many times Blackbird tries to explain to Autumn and the others that a Muse is no more "alive" than a knife or a grinding stone, they never seem to accept it. To them, the Muse will always be "powerful magic".

And yes. It was in one of those kinds of places where you put things just so you won't forget where you put them. And then promptly forget. o_O

Anyway, I'm going to post most of this last batch under a cut to save people's FList pages. There are nine images in all...

Day 22 - Gone to Seed

I'm not sure what kind of grass this is... It came up as a volunteer in an empty pot I had sitting on the balcony, and I left it to grow because the blades and stalks reminded me of young corn.

Day 23 - Wild Blackberries

Picked from the canes that grow along-side the Sammamish Riverwalk. I love these juicy little clusters of sour.... I can't help it. They remind me of being a kid and picking them by the bucket-full in the woods at the edge of my grandparents' subdivision.

Day 24 - Heron

Something else often found along the Riverwalk... I'm on that trail a couple of times a week, and I cross paths with this fellow and his friends almost every time I'm there. Like the kingfishers and the kestrel, I've learned to watch for them.

Day 25 - BSR's BBQ

Mr. Brightfires and his Hawaiian barbecue from L&L. 'Just taken because I realized that I didn't have a picture of him anywhere in the 30 Days set, and it seemed like he ought to be there. He hates candid photos almost as much as I do, so I had to pull out the camera when he wasn't expecting it. ^_^

Day 26 - Bob

Teacup's adopted strawberry, happy in its pot up on the balcony. There's a bit of a story behind Bob.

Day 27 - Hat of Happy

The happiest hat on Earth... My grinning, fox-earred beenie from Genki Hats. In a few months, it'll be cold enough here to wear it again. In the meantime, it's stuck on top of my hiking stick, grinning up the downstairs landing.

Day 28 - Micro Maples

More babies. We have a small forest of six Japanese maple saplings (Plus one baby Filbert tree-) growing in a big pot. They're the off-spring of an older, very beautiful tree that grew in the courtyard of our last apartment. They're not quite big enough yet to be safe from rabbits and the neighbor's kids out in the yard... The tallest of them will probably be planted out next spring, the others in a year or two more... So for now, I coddle them and treat them like my jasmine and miniature roses. Just like I did my ginko tree when it was a little smaller.

Day 29 - Squidgy

I shouldn't eat Jaffa Cakes. I really shouldn't... But how can you not love something that describes its own orange jelly center as "squidgy"?

Until we come, at last, to the end.

Day 30 - Peace

Not only a wish or a desire... but also the name of this particular variety of rose.

30 Days - The Reprise

I still need to pull the last nine daily images for the first "30 Days" challenge for processing and posting, but I've managed to misplace Pinky's USB cable. (If you couldn't already tell from the less than spectacular image quality, most of the dailies have been taken with "Pinky" my little, girly-pink Kodak pocket camera, rather than the old Olympus or "Beast", my DSLR.) I'll have them up as soon as I remember where I put the thing... 'Sad part is, I probably put it where-ever it is "So I wouldn't forget where it was."

That chin and rather goofy set of lips, of course, belong to Hideo (Volks Amakusa)... The most difficult-to-photograph doll I've ever had in front of a camera. Ever.

No picture has ever done him justice.
I doubt any ever will.

But... where Elise goes, Hideo follows. That's just the way it is.

Day 5 - Just Another Weeaboo Brat

'Funny thing is, this fellow (Who joins Mystic and Jimmy in an independant, near-future cast-) just isn't into hakama.
He'd rather have a beat-up pair of jeans and some stompy boots than this stuff any day.

I felt like I just had to take his first picture in a traditional get-up, though...

It never quite broke 90 according to my weather-thing, but it came darn close. It recorded a high of 89.9 today.
I also spoke to another job recruiter this afternoon. He asked about a thousand questions. Some of them twice. o_O

... I rarely post twice in a week, much less twice a day... But... It's entirely Mako's fault. She started it. XD

I've never done this meme before, and the age of some of these songs makes me feel like some kind of fossil. A few of them are also pretty obscure. If anyone recognizes those, I'll be seriously surprised. And impressed.
