I'm not really sure yet if I'm going to use this head for Dhavi, or if I'm going to try the dreaming head with the horn... They're both awfully cute... But I'm leaning strongly towards this one.

Most of you guys aren't really going to care about this... It's the kind of character-centric background bull that's only interesting to the person who created it... But I spent nearly an hour making this thing, so I'm going to post it anyway.

If you've ever wondered just *how* tangled up the web of Turtle House's various relations are (familial and otherwise-), this should make it all about as clear as mud. XD



What does sort-of make me chuckle is how much Ahken and Kura seem to act as keystones, connecting and holding different parts of the cast together.  It's very... them.

Yeah... I'm sheeple.

Another new portrait...
Or, well, *A* portrait, anyway...

It can't really be called a new one since Yomi never actually had an old one. This is the first time I've taken anything like a "serious" picture of the guy.



Yomi is a lightly modified Volks School A, and while I'm not a big fan of the School A sculpt in general... I'm pretty fond of him. He's got exactly the right expression for Sunna (Volks Eden) the Twilight's reluctant and rather incredulous Lunar partner.

Just don't mess with his Solar.

He may think Sunna's a hare-brained lunatic... But by the gods, he's *his* hare-brained lunatic. Badger-totemed Full Moons take that territoriality thing seriously. XD

D didn't really need a new database picture... but I still felt like playing around with him today. That's a rare enough thing that I'd feel a little bad not to take advantage of it.

Today it was Rone's turn to have a new database portrait taken, and I was reminded... all over again... exactly why Fergus, Julian and Ashley find this guy so difficult to deal with. Why they plot his demise on a regular basis.

He's a smug, infuriating pain in the butt.



I don't know which of these two pictures I'm going to use in the DoA database, yet... but anything's better than the picture of his that's over there now. 

I'm remembering now why I put off taking a better one.

I was *supposed* to be taking new profile pictures of Nightengale and Kingfisher today, but the half-cloudy/half-sunny light was doing some very odd things to them... That sort-of killed my plans. I'm not out to replace bad pictures with worse ones, after all.

So, I played some more with Vincent instead. He's on a properly-scaled bod of his own now, and even though I hate just about everything about it, it does fit him pretty well. It looks good in a suit, too. I guess that's a plus.

I've been debating posting a couple from this set in the DoA Gallery, just to put up an example of a Heliot that isn't wearing his hooves, but it still seems weird to. It's bad enough that I spam you guys with this stuff... XD

A pain.
In the butt.

That's what sifting through and rearranging a web space filled with almost seven years worth of RPG stuff, doll pics, MMO screens and god only knows how much random photography crap always is. But at some point it becomes unavoidable. You just have to say "To hell with it", man up and get it done. 

That's what I've spent today doing, and I have to say it's nice to see an "available space" number again that isn't Very Seriously Red. It's nice to be able to find things, for however long that lasts.

Of course, getting to that state axed god only knows how many image and file links out across the landscape of the internet. I got my old, old Gallery threads on Nomads and DoA deleted, and I'm pretty sure the first pictures thread on RPG went down in the last great Tangency Purge, so at least those aren't hanging around full of little red X's... But there's no way I could chase down and delete or re-link everything my cleaning binge broke. o_O 

Oh well. The nature of the 'net is impermanence.

I was pretty careful about not killing all of my DoA database images, but looking at some of them... I decided that it was time to replace most of the older ones, anyway. They're from the era of my old Olympus and it shows. XP

New ones that I particularly like are apt to show up here or on dA, a few at a time as I get around to taking them.

Well... I've pretty much terminally fallen behind on the "picture-a-day" thing. I just haven't had time or the inspiration to do much with the minions or my camera. Oh well. Laziness, thou art me. XP

Still, it would be weird to just post after a whole week without any pictures at all, even though I'm throwing in the towel on daily image project. So... have a random Vincent. For the road.



I haven't posted him before. This was his first and only time on a body, or in front of the camera.
I haven't said much of anything about him, either. With everyone under the sun jumping on the Soom monthlies (Including myself, obviously-), it just seems kind-of odd to. "Hur hur. Look at that. Another follower"... You know how it goes...

Anyway, Vincent is the resin avatar of another gaming character... Like Shatterglass, the original was a favorite Shadowrun PC. An elvish gun-bunny whose original inspiration was a song... I'm not sure if I should thank my old office-mate for introducing me to that tune while I was trying to come up with a new character, or curse him for it.

It's Herbert's fault that poor Vincent couldn't remember who he was or where he learned to shoot. His friends used to joke that he was secretly a "deprogramed" secret agent... Sort-of Seattle-in-2050's answer to James Bond.

... If James Bond had had the personality and the dress-sense of an accountant, and an inexplicable fascination with yuppie coffee-houses. Vin just wasn't the kind of guy you'd look at and think "Frighteningly competent assassin." o_O

EDIT: Okay... I finally pulled the rest of the pictures from that set off of the camera and looked at them, and I liked this one a lot. So, maybe two Vincents.



I wasn't sure I wanted to put him in the DoA database due to "lack of a good picture", but I think I like this one enough to use it. 

Day 8 - Departure



No extras from this set... which features Sunna (Volks Eden), helping to pack up his Lunar partner's head. (Yomi, a School A mod, is setting off with Pally and Kura to finally get a face-up done. ^_^)  

I'm not sure how many more of these Faceless pictures I'm going to do, though. I just don't have the time or space to set up interesting, elaborate or artsy shots these days and I'm already getting tired of plain hands and profiles.

I may have to go for a compromise... Still posting a picture or two a day, but not necessarily a "faceless" one.
I never have claimed to be the most creative person, and the limitations of this challenge seem to be beyond me. XD

It's something that just has to be done once in awhile, no matter how much the owner of those knots may compain about having to sit still. XD

None of the "extras" from these sets were particularly good... so no goodies behind a cut this time. The doll in the first picture is Tien Jen (Type 1 CP Dreaming Shiwoo), my little super hero costume consultant in the second is Tensuruki (DF Popo) and the thoughtful fellow in the third is Sjhan (Type 2 CP Dreaming Shiwoo).

I'm going to continue to try having a different doll (or pair of dolls, as the case may be-) in each day's set this time around. Some of my crew have only rarely been in front of a camera, and this seems like as good of an excuse to change that as any.  ^_^

It's a bit chilly here today, and over-cast... It's starting to rain... But after the long summer dryness and the heat-from-hell we were suffering under a few weeks ago, I'm not going to complain. It feels good.
